Athletes aged 5-11 as of December 31^st of the current season are eligible to register for this program.

• U8 - Athletes aged 5, 6, and 7 as of December 31st of the current season.
• U10 - Athletes aged 8 and 9 as of December 31st of the current season.
• U12 - Athletes aged 10 and 11 as of December 31st of the current season.

Athletes must be able to ski in control (i.e. make turns and safely stop) on beginner/green and some intermediate/blue terrain as well as independently ride the chair lift. Athletes who are not able to get on and off the lift independently will require a parent to accompany them until the athlete is able to do so with minimal assistance.

During the regular season (12 weeks January – March), U8 & U10 Nancy Greene racers can choose between the following:

• The Full Program (two full days/week)
  • Both Saturdays and Sundays (9 am-3 pm).
  • Training takes place at Antoine Mountain on Saturdays only and at Laurentian Ski Hill on Sundays.
• The Half Program (one full day/week)
  • Sundays (9 am to 3 pm).
  • Training takes place at Laurentian Ski Hill

During the regular season (12 weeks January – March), U12 Nancy Greene racers can choose between the following:

• The Full Program (two full days/week)
  • Both Saturdays and Sundays (9 am-3 pm).
  • Training takes place at Antoine Mountain 
• The Half Program (one full day/week)
  • Saturdays (9 am to 3 pm).
  • Training takes place at Antoine Mountain 

Laurentian Classic: This is our local U8-U12 race organized by our club at the Laurentian Ski Hill. All athletes, regardless of abilities, are encouraged to participate in this race, and registration is included in your fees. This is usually a highlight of the year for racers and even the most nervous of athletes tend to catch the racing bug after this event.

Home Hardware Classic: This is our local U14/U16 race held at Antoine Mountain. U12 athletes will have the option of participating in this race to gain additional event experience.

Athletes may choose to participate in out-of-town Northern Ontario Division races. In typical years, races are held in Elliott Lake at the beginning of March and at the Searchmont Resort at the end of March.

Information about all races will be communicated throughout the season.

All athletes are required to be registered with Alpine Ontario Alpin (AOA) and Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA). Athletes are not permitted to participate in on-snow or dryland training until this fee has been paid.

Registration and payment are completed through SnowReg. Athletes must be registered in their corresponding age category. Athletes who are 6 years old as of January wishing to attend out-of-town races must select the 'traveling' membership.

Ski passes are not included in registration fees. Typically, Nancy Greene athletes will hold a season pass at their training site.

Alternatively, parents may choose to purchase a lift ticket for each training day or, if skiing at Laurentian Ski Hill, to purchase a multiday lift ticket pack.

Below is a brief description of what equipment is required and what is recommended.

If your athlete already has equipment, it is not always necessary to replace it. Our coaching staff can advise when your athlete has progressed to requiring race-specific equipment. Our club also hosts a ski equipment exchange every year in November and we would be happy to help you find equipment at this event.

• Helmets are required for all on-snow training. It is strongly recommended that all athletes wear a ski race-specific helmet with hard-ear guards.*
• For U8-U10 athletes
  • Only one pair of skis is required. 
  • Ski boots.
  • Set of poles.
• For U12 athletes
  • Either one pair of skis (ideally a pair of slalom or race-specific multi-event skis) or two pairs of skis (1 GS and 1 slalom), depending on athlete interest and ability. Coaches can assist in picking the best skis for your athlete.
  • 4-buckle ski boot, as long as sizing permits.
  • Set of poles.
• Note: Speed suits are only permitted for U12 athletes.

We require that all athletes comply with the ACA National Rules and Policies. Please see the current AOA Equipment Guidelines here.

*Note: A race helmet with hard-ear guards is required for races.

NBSRC is committed to keeping the cost of the extra program options as low as possible while covering our coaching costs. Actual prices will be released once we have estimated the number of participants.

• Pre-Season Dryland Training (Recommended)

• Christmas Camp (Optional)
  • 4-day SL camp December 27-20, 2024, and/or
  • 4-day GS camp January 2-5, 2025
  • Cost: $100 per week ($15 discount per week if paid at time of registration)

Volunteers are essential to the functioning of our club.

We are a not-for-profit, parent-run organization and volunteers are necessary to keep our programming costs as low as possible and to ensure our programs and events run smoothly. Volunteering is also an excellent way for parents to socialize and feel a sense of belonging to our NBSRC community!

While there is no set volunteer commitment, it is expected that parents of all racers will volunteer throughout the year. There are many volunteer opportunities available, regardless of your skill, experience, or time availability.
